EXECUTIVE
TEAM
The CSPA Executive Committee oversees the CSPA. Their responsibilities include creating and monitoring the CSPA budget for the year, overseeing the Room Parents and Committee Chairs, organizing community events, spearheading the CSPA fundraisers throughout the year and managing the allocation of funds raised for school projects voted on by the parent community. The executive committee updates the parent community through the Wednesday Weekly newspaper and CSPA meetings, which are held at least 4 times throughout the school year. The executive committee for the 2008/2009 school year consists of the following parents:
Laura Gschwind, President

Laura Gschwind has been a Carey School parent for five years. While at Carey, Laura has co-chaired the auction, served on the annual giving committee for two years as well as the capital campaign committee. In addition she has participated in the classroom in many ways including being a room parent for two years. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Laura worked for 15 years in the biotech and medical device industry. She first worked, for ten years, at Collagen Corporation managing consumer and medical marketing communications, in addition to leading corporate and public relations efforts. She then went on to direct corporate and marketing communications at Target Therapeutics and Guidant Corporation. Laura and her husband, Mark, reside in San Mateo with their two sons
Mary Albert, Vice President

Mary Albert has been a parent the Carey school for three years. During this time Mary has chaired Carey’s 80th Birthday celebration, in addition to coordinating class auction projects, and volunteering in the classroom. Mary Albert moved to the Bay Area in 1992 after attending Loyola Law School and working in Los Angeles as a Structured Settlement Consultant negotiating medical malpractice and products liabilities cases, via securities instruments, on behalf of defendants and their insurers. While living in San Francisco, she worked in Human Resources at the State Bar of California and then for a boutique investment firm, before returning briefly to work as a negotiator for structured settlements. While living in the East Bay, Mary found her more ‘creative’ side, learning about fabric, painting, interior decorating and ‘staging’. More recently she has been working as a voice-over artist and as a fundraiser for various causes. Mary and her husband, Phil, reside in San Mateo with their daughter Isabella.
Kristina Israelski, Treasurer

Kristina Wright-Israelski is a native Californian and has been a parent at Carey for 3 years. In the upcoming school year she will have all three of her children at the Carey School. Kristina has been activity involved with the Carey community, taking lead roles in the creation of the class auction projects, in addition she has assisted in numerous class functions, and taken key roles in support of the Careyfest. Kristina received her BSN, RN, PHN at University of San Francisco, she specialized in Oncology and HIV/AIDS at Sequoia Hospital. Additionally, she worked at a home based therapy company where she administered IV related treatments and taught patients with chronic diseases how to better care for themselves. She then became the Director of Nursing for a national home infusion company. Kristina left this company in 2000 to devote herself to raising a family. Kristina and her husband Dennis live in Redwood City with their 3 children.
Nicole Campbell, Secretary
Nicole Campbell has been a parent at the Carey School for two years. As of this year, both of Nicole's children will be attending the Carey School. Nicole was born and raised in Aptos and after graduating from U.C. Berkeley, she lived in San Francisco for 10 years and spent one year traveling and guiding backcountry hiking excursions in Alaska. After nearly a decade of working at law firms, first as a litigator and later as a transactional attorney, Nicole took some time off from her practice to begin raising her children and now counsels and negotiates technology transfers for various software and internet companies. Nicole, her husband Ray, and their two children live in the same nook of a Redwood Shores neighborhood with 4 other Carey families!
