The executive committee updates the parent community through the Wednesday Weekly newspaper and CSPA meetings, which are held at least 4 times throughout the school year.
The members of the executive committee for the 2009-10 school year are:
Devon Gold, President
Devon is excited to be starting her sixth year as a Carey parent with her 3 children in grades five, three and pre-K. In her time at Carey, Devon has co-chaired both the Annual Auction and the Walkathon/Careyfest, served for numerous years as a room parent, coordinated parent involvement for Literature Week and served on the leadership teams for both the Annual Fund and Capital Campaign. Devon loves the palpable energy and enthusiasm she feels whenever she’s at school. Whether it’s during a class party, a reading session in the library or a musical performance, the excitement emanating from the children is truly contagious!
Kelene Richart and Ida Gruber, Co-Vice Presidents
Kelene and her family have been at the Carey school for 6 years, and her daughters are in the fifth and third grades. Kelene has been active at Carey as a room parent, decorations and set-up lead for both the Auction and Walkathon/Careyfest and class agent for annual giving. Kelene was also on the Capital Campaign leadership team, chairing the community giving effort and coordinating recognition events. One of the most meaningful Carey traditions for Kelene and her family is the Buddy Program. Both older and younger children treasure their special buddy relationships. Reading together, exchanging valentines and “high-fiving” as they pass each other on the patio, buddies share a special bond that adds to the richness of the Carey experience.
Ida Gruber begins her second of many years to come at the Carey school. Her oldest daughter is in first grade, while her two younger daughters will join the Carey family in the near future! In her first year at Carey, Ida served as Class Agent for the Annual Fund. She continues to be impressed with the talent, expertise and dedication of the Carey faculty and the creative and inspiring way they impart the curriculum to their students.
Maria Frantz, Treasurer
Maria is mom to three Carey students in grades five, three and kindergarten. In her five years as a Carey parent, Maria has co-chaired the Walkathon/Careyfest and rallied the entire community as Spirit Day lead for the past four years. She has served on the auction committee and has been a room parent for many years. Maria loves the warm and inclusive Carey community and watching her children run into school each morning excited to see their friends and to learn!
Ayesha Masud, Secretary
In her 4 years as a Carey parent, Ayesha has taken on numerous leadership roles, including co-chairing both the Walkathon and Careyfest. She has also served as a room parent and on the auction committee. Ayesha’s daughter is in fourth grade this year. What Ayesha appreciates most about Carey is that the community of educators, parents and children share her family’s values: a love of learning, respect and kindness, and social responsibility.
