TRUSTEES:
Susanne Vagadori, President
Susanne is a current and alumni parent. This is Susanne's third year on the board, and she serves on the Finance and Strategic Planning Committees. Susanne was born in San Francisco and graduated from Stanford University with an honors degree in Comparative Literature. After graduating, she went overseas and taught English literature and creative writing at The American School in Switzerland before entering the Masters Degree program in English Language & Literature at Cambridge University in England. Susanne entered the Ph.D. Program in English Literature at Yale University in 1986. For the past 18 years, Susanne has been with Sun Microsystems, holding a variety of positions in marketing, public relations, and business development. At Carey, Susanne was a room parent for several years and served as CSPA President for two years.
Peter Lim, Vice-President
Peter is a parent of one Carey School student and one Carey alum. He received his education from Carnegie Mellon University (B.S.). Peter has over 20 years of experience designing and building large, enterprise systems and holds 18 patents in the areas of data replication, mobility and CRM. Peter worked at Siebel Systems for over 12 years and held positions including Vice President Core Technology and Group Vice President, Engineering where he delivered 23+ software releases to large enterprise customers. Prior to Siebel, Peter worked for seven years as an Engineering Manager at Oracle in the Applications Division. Today, Peter is CTO and Co-Founder of SkyData Systems, a software startup focusing on providing mobile applications for business professionals. At Carey, Peter has been focusing on improving the use of Technology in the school's operations and curriculum.
Carol Pereira, Treasurer
Carol was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, but has lived in California for the last 19 years. She has a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School, a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Carol is the Chief Financial Officer of Red Rock Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on seed and early stage information technology companies. She also spent a number of years in investment banking earlier in her career. Carol served as Treasurer of the CSPA for two years from 2001-2003, and was a room parent for the 2000-2001 and 2003-2004 school years. Carol is the parent of two Carey School students. This is Carol's first year on the Board of Trustees. Carol serves on the Finance committee.
Sarah Murphy, Secretary 
Sarah is the mother of three boys, two of whom are Carey School students. Sarah holds an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and an M.A. from Amherst College. Sarah has held positions in Institutional Equity Sales at JP Morgan & Co, Strategic Planning at PepsiCo, Inc., and Investment Banking at Lehman Brothers. She has been very active in Fundraising, chairing the auction for St. Chrysotom’s Day School in Chicago and Co-Chairing the Class Fund for Amherst College. She has also served on the Board of St. Paul’s Nursery School Burlingame and on the Chicago Junior League. Sarah is currently the Co-Head of the “Raise the Roof” Capital Campaign at Carey. She has chaired the auction, introduced and run the Square One Art program, served on the Teacher Appreciation Committee and as a room parent for several years.Sarah is a parent of three children of which of two Carey School students of which two are Carey School students. Sarah received her education (J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern, Amherst College.) Sarah's prior career included positions in Institutional Equity Sales at JP Morgan & Co., Strategic Planning at Pepsico, Inc. and Financial Analysis at Lehman Brothers, Inc. As a volunteer she has been involved in various aspects of fundraising including a Fundraiser for St. Chrysostom's Day School and the Junior League in Chicago, as well as being a Board Member at Large for St. Paul's Nursery School in Burlingame. Last year, Sarah chaired the Carey School auction.

Betsy Berman
Betsy is a parent of three children, two of which are Carey School students. Betsy received her B.A. from DePauw University in Indiana. She is currently the Campaign Director at the Hamlin School in San Francisco and is in charge of planning and executing an $18.5 million campaign for building acquisition, debt management and endowment. Betsy has also served as the Director of Alumnae and Director of Major Gifts at Hamlin. Prior to her work at Hamlin, Betsy held positions as the Director of Admissions, Associate Director of Development, Director of Alumni Relations, and the Alumni/Special Events Coordinator at the Latin School in Chicago. Betsy has served as Co-Chair of the “Raise the Roof Capital Campaign” at The Carey School in addition to extensive work on the Auction and Teacher Appreciation committees.
Roberta
Chopra
Roberta Chopra is the mother of three children, and is entering her fourth year as a parent in the Carey community. Roberta has served on the Board of Trustees for three years, chairing the Advancement, Development and Human Resources committees. In her first year at Carey, Roberta co-chaired the annual auction and served on the annual giving program committee. Roberta has over 16 years of human resources experience. She was the regional manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers' International Assignment Solutions Group in Palo Alto. After leaving PwC, Roberta worked as the Director of Human Resources at Barulich, Schoknecht, Dugoni Law Group, Inc., a San Mateo law firm specializing in estate and business planning. As a full-time mother, Roberta is now devoting her time to family.
Doug
Chu
Doug Chu is a current and alumni parent; he has been a parent at the Carey School since 2001 and has served on the board since 2005. Doug was born and raised in New York and has lived in California for over 18 years. He has a BS in Aerospace Engineering from MIT, an MS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from UC Berkeley. Doug is currently a Managing Director with the New York Stock Exchange and also has over 12 years of experience as a technology investment banker, with firms such as the Credit Suisse Technology Group, Deutsche Bank and Bank of America. He was previously an aerospace engineer.
Bob
Finney
Bob is an alumni parent and has two children who attended the Carey School from Pre-K through Fifth Grade. This is Bob's sixth year on the Board, and he has served on the Finance, Development, Executive and Trustee Committees. Bob also served as Vice President of the Board of Trustees for two years and served as President last year. He also has successfully led two Carey Auction fundraisers. He is a native Floridian who has been transplanted in Northern California for the past 22 years. Bob attended the University of Georgia where he received his BBA, majoring in Risk Management and MBA with a concentration in Finance. Professionally, Bob has enjoyed a 25+year career in Risk Management and Corporate Treasury positions with companies such as Beatrice, Genentech, DHL Worldwide Express and Agilent Technologies.
Annette Goodwine
Annette is the mother of one Carey School student. She holds an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California and a B.S. in Marketing from the University of California, Berkeley. Annette is currently a partner at Good Consulting Partners, a firm specializing in brand Strategy and marketing communications services. She has also held positions as Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Senior Director of Consumer Marketing at eBay. Annette volunteers with the Taproot Foundation and Project READ in San Francisco. She is also a very active Carey parent and has played instrumental roles on the Carey playground project and the capital Campaign Committee. She has also been a room parent and served on the teacher appreciation committee.
Randy
Griggi
Randy Griggi is a native to the Bay Area. He has been working in the electrical field for the past 26 years in positions ranging from inside wireman to project engineer. This is Randy's fourth year on the board, and he is the chair of the Building and Grounds Committee. During the past several years at the Carey School, he has been involved with various projects on campus. Randy has two children who both attend The Carey School.
Rona Halualani
Rona is an alumna of The Carey School. Rona received a Ph.D. in Communication from Arizona State University, an M.A. in Communications from California State University in Sacramento and a B.A. from the University of California, Davis. She is currently an Associate Professor with tenure in the Communication Studies Department at San Jose State University. She serves on the Access to Excellence Strategic Planning Steering Committee for the California State University System as a member of the board on General Studies and Representative of the College of Social Sciences at San Jose State. She is both the undergraduate and graduate Adviser and Chair for the Department of Communications. She has published many articles on Intercultural communication and has served on Editorial boards for numerous journals and book presses. She is affiliated with many professional associations including the international Communication Association and the National Communication Association.
Cissy Lewis
Cissy is currently Head of Upper School at Castilleja School and has served as Academic Dean and Assistant Head Academic Dean. Previously she was Head of Upper School at The Baylor School and an English Teacher at Hockaday School. She received her education at Harvard University (Ed.M.) Middlebury College (M.A.) and The University of the South (B.A. in English and Biology)
Chris Loh
Chris is both a current and alumni parent. He is an experienced business executive with 15 years of management experience in the storage, consumer electronics and digital media industry. He is currently running business development for the audio and video division of SanDisk Corporation. Chris earned a BSE from Princeton University and an MBA from Stanford University. He chairs The Carey School Expansion/Building Committee. He also serves on the Princeton University Alumni Schools Committee and the Board of Directors of Stanford Student Enterprises. This is Chris' first year on the Board of Trustees.
Stephanie
Lucas
Stephanie has been a member of the Carey School community for seven y ears and is the parent of both an alumni and current student. Stephanie has been active in the school since first joining. Starting in 1999, she chaired the school's Auction Business Solicitations work for two years. She also served as the C.S.P.A. President for two terms. This is Stephanie's fourth year on the board, and she serves on the Advancement and Building/Grounds Committees. Stephanie grew up in Boston and moved to San Francisco in 1990. She has a degree in finance from Boston University and has worked at Digital Equipment Corporation for fourteen years and at Bank of America for five years.
Steve Mayer
Steve is a founder and the Managing Partner of the Burr, Pilger and Mayer (BPM) Family of Firms. Steve has both an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley and has been an instructor in Accounting at Golden Gate University. Steve is community minded and supports many nonprofit organizations. He serves on the boards of Riordan High School, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and the Presidio Bank. He is a past Chair of the Board of Leadership San Francisco and the San Mateo-Foster City School District's Fiscal Advisory Committee. Steve is a fourth generation San Franciscan. He currently lives in San Mateo with his wife Patty and their children, all either current Carey students or Alumni.
John Somorjai
John, the parent of two Carey students, is Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy at Salesforce.com where he is responsible for mergers and acquisitions, investments, and other strategic transactions for the company. Previously, John has held positions at Ingenio (acquired by AT&T), and Oracle. He was an Attorney with Dewey Ballantine and Stroock, Stroock & Lavan. Joh has served as a Commissioner of the City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Commission, and is a former President of the Baywood Owners Improvement Association. While President, the Association received the Citation Award from the California Park and Recreational Society. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Berkeley Center for Law, Business and the Economy at the University of California Boalt School of Law. John received a J.D. from the University of California Boalt School of Law at U.C. Berkeley, and a B.A. from Dartmouth College.
Bill Silver
Bill is the father of two children. He holds an M.S. in Management
from Stanford University and a B.S. from the University of California
Davis College of Engineering. Bill has extensive experience in finance
and is currently the Business Manager and Chief Financial Officer at
the Menlo School in Atherton, CA. Bill has served on the Board of a
joint venture between Dell and CIT, as Chairmen of Xetus Corporation
and as President of Citibank F.S.B. He also serves on the board of
Directors of Music at Menlo, one of the Nations' premier chamber music
festivals and summer music education programs, and is the co-chairman
of the Pathways Committee of the Los Altos Hills Town Government. He
served for five years on the Board of Trustees of Sage Ridge School in
Reno, Nevada, a grade five through 12 college preparatory school and
is a Trustee Emeritus. Bill has served on the Boards of the Silicon
Valley Manufacturing Group, the Equipment Leasing Association of
America and the American Automobile Leasing Association.
